Voluntary Recall: Best Friends Day

Sometimes, things don’t go the way we planned…

Best Friends Day, a barrel-aged stout released in December 2021, is being voluntarily recalled following the conclusion that bottles have started to sour within the last month.

Here at Fair State, we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest quality standards for every beer we make, but unfortunately we didn’t live up to that goal this time. Here’s what Joe, our Head Brewer, has to say:

“It’s pretty disheartening, but it appears as though a bacterial contamination has begun souring bottles of Best Friends Day. While it isn’t harmful to drink, it will not be anywhere near the beer we wanted you to experience—and we always want our customers to have the best experience possible.”

After thorough internal and external testing, we are confident that this contamination did not affect any other recent bottle releases aside from Best Friends Day.

If you have a bottle or two in your cellar, or you’ve recently opened a bottle that was sour, please reach out to [email protected] with proof of purchase so we can do our best to make it up to you.
