Celebrating the release of an IPA collab with Creature Comforts!

COLLAB TAP TAKEOVER

We’ll have a bunch of collab beers on tap at the taproom all week! Our taproom is located at 2506 NE Central Ave in Minneapolis.

A LIGHT IN DARK PLACES WHEN ALL OTHER LIGHTS GO OUT | COLLAB WITH BURIAL
Pale Ale | 5.4 ABV

A pale ale in an IPA world, brewed in collaboration with Burial Beer (Asheville, NC) and YCH. Heavily featuring HBC 630, an experimental hop variety that brings notes of berries, peaches, and a nebulous “candy” aromatic. Paired with an American classic in Simcoe Cryo, this beer pops with fruity notes, while managing to maintain the crisp, snappy sensibility that only pale ales can truly embody.

DOIN’ HOWDIES | COLLAB WITH CREATURE COMFORTS
IPA | 6.5 ABV

An IPA collaboration with Creature Comforts (Athens, GA), brewed using a very special Georgia-grown wheat along with a choice combination of West Coast hops—Chinook for pine and pineapple, Crystal for that super clean grapefruit pith, Amarillo for bright orange and stonefruit, and HBC586 for an intense mango character.

LUMINOSA | COLLAB WITH INDIE HOPS
Experimental IPA | 6.3 ABV

An IPA built to showcase a brand new hop, Luminosa. This hop isn’t even commercially available yet so we feel extra lucky to have gotten our hands on it. It comes to us from the people who brought you Strata—Indie Hops. We’ve paired Luminosa’s aromas and flavors of “peach-lemonade, candied orange peel, marionberry, and mango” with the familiar and intense tropical/dank profile of Strata in this West Coast IPA. Enjoy this sneak peek of a hop we expect to see a lot more of in the future!

MACHINE IN THE GARDEN | COLLAB WITH HIGHLAND PARK + MODERN TIMES
Foeder-aged Landbier | 5.1 ABV

A foeder-aged Landbier. What the heck is that? Well, Landbier is a German tradition of “country lagers,” where each little countryside brewery might have its own recipe, using what was locally available. We’ve embraced that tradition here by focusing on malt from Minnesota, using Maltwerks Pilsner and Vienna. We brewed ours a little darker than is probably traditional, aiming right between Vienna and Schwarzbier, and we amped up the bitterness to offset some of the softness we pick up from oak-aging. Oh yeah, we’ve also aged it for a month in our oak foeder, imparting a subtle toasted marshmallow and oak tannin character.

SCUSI? | COLLAB WITH SMITH & LENTZ, ROY FARMS + ADHA
Italian-Style Pilsner | 5.3 ABV

Scusi? Italian-Style Pils is a collaboration with Smith & Lentz Brewing (Nashville, TN) featuring Roy Farms/ADHA Adeena hops. We used Eraclea pilsner malt for that Mediterranean feel, and used Adeena in the whirlpool and dry-hop. It’s crispy dry, and we’re getting big notes of lemon rind, herbal tea, a hint of spice, and just a whiff of floral character. Molto bene!

FERM LYFE PILS | COLLAB WITH LIVE OAK, ESCARPMENT LABS, YCH
Pilsner | 4.3 ABV

A pilsner that celebrates the most important part of beer-making—that fermentation lyfe. We collaborated with our friends at Live Oak Brewing (ATX) and Escarpment Labs (CAN), along with YCH, to create this beer. We’ve employed a lager yeast long thought lost to the mists of time and a brand-new experimental hop, and the result is an ultra-clean, crispy little lager.

VIOLETTA PILS | COLLAB WITH WORKING DRAFT
German-style Pilsner | 5.1 ABV

A German-style Pilsner brewed in collaboration with Working Draft (Madison, WI), featuring a very special undermodified pilsner malt from Sugar Creek Malt in Indiana, and Michigan-grown hops from Hop Head Farms. We step-mashed this one even more intensively than we usually do, and fermented it extra cold. The resulting beer is crisp, snappy, with a delightfully bready malt character. We’re very excited to feature these old-world ingredients produced here in the American Midwest.

KELLER KAZBEK
Unfiltered Pilsner | 5.0 ABV

A returning staff and member favorite beer, Keller Kazbek hasn’t been on tap at Fair State in two years! An unfiltered German-style Pilsner hopped extensively with Czech-grown Kazbek hops, a variety that is somewhat more aggressive than traditional Czech Saaz. This hop lends a strong grassy, herbal, almost dill-like aroma to the beer. Crisp, hoppy, with slightly increased malt presence due to the lack of filtration. It’s one of our favorites.
