There are a lot of great reasons to become a Fair State member, but you don’t have to take our word for it…

Matt and Katelin Krumm say Fair State is their happy place. They started coming to Fair State together multiple times a week after they started dating in 2018 to drink beer, play cribbage, and pet some dogs. It was their dog’s first brewery and always the first stop with out-of-town visitors. After consuming unmentionable quantities of Roselle together, they decided to become members on their first anniversary.

In December 2019, Katelin thought she was surprising Matt by flying two friends in from Texas—when he had actually set the whole thing up so their friends could be there when he proposed to Katelin in the beer garden. That’s right—Fair State is for lovers!

In May 2022, Matt and Katelin got married (for the third time due to Covid delays) and they kindly let us barge in on their engagement photo session to chat with them about their love for Fair State.

We hope everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome. Matt and Katelin love the friendly bartenders (who are always ready to make beer suggestions), cozy ambiance, convenient location, and “the beer selection is always fantastic.”

Our business is built on our values, and we appreciate knowing that our members have our back. Matt and Katelin are proud to be members of our unionized co-op, and on top of being able to tell people “we own the place!” they truly feel like they’re part of a community. Plus, the member draft discounts and access to pre-releases doesn’t hurt.

“Doing good in the community.”

Why would they encourage others to be members? Because it’s “different than other memberships.” It’s a unique way to support local by being a member of a cooperatively-owned brewery that also “partners with so many local communities and charities.”

Of course we had to ask about their favorite Fair State beers.
