Hiring: Production Supervisor

Fair State Brewing Cooperative is seeking a Production Supervisor to join our staff in Saint Paul.

Fair State is one of a limited number of cooperatively-owned breweries in the US. We began operations at our Northeast Minneapolis brewery and taproom in August 2014, and added a production brewery in St. Paul, MN in 2017. This position reports to the Head Brewer.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day to day tasks and operation of our production facility in St. Paul
  • Act as first step problem solver for inventory, process, and maintenance issues, escalating to next level when needed
  • Fill in with all production teams when needed
  • Train new staff on production processes in tandem with Head Brewer and Packaging Manager
  • Work with production leads to update, implement, and audit SOPs and Onboarding as needed
  • Act as head of safety committee and sustainability committee
  • Perform raw material and finished good inventories on a regular basis
  • Manage yeast performance and record keeping
  • Audit new recipes and processes for feasibility
  • Make changes to recipes and SOPs based on real time data
  • Maintain and implement electronic record keeping system
  • Act as direct manager to Brewing and Packaging Staff
  • Approve timecards and PTO requests
  • Desired Skills and Experience
  • Five years of production brewer experience
  • One year of staff management experience
  • Experienced user of Microsoft suite
  • Moderate mechanical aptitude including compressed air, plumbing, HVAC and electrical
  • Orchestrated Beer/MRP SAP experience a plus
  • Grist Analytics experience a plus
  • Requirements
  • At least 21 years of age as of time of application
  • Able to stand for prolonged periods
  • Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
  • Able to manipulate valves and clamps
  • Able to regularly lift/carry heavy objects (55 lbs.) repeatedly and safely above waist-level
  • Able to occasionally move heavy objects (165 lbs.)
  • Able to work in a factory environment which may be loud, hot, humid, cold, or slick
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high-pressure deadlines and time constraints
  • Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
  • Able to safely work on ladders and elevated platforms and in confined spaces
  • Able to safely operate vehicles and material handling equipment (e.g., vans, trucks, hand trucks, scissor lifts, forklifts, pallet jacks)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass insurance driving record review for operating Company-owned vehicles on public roads
  • Compensation and Benefits

    This is a full-time salary position compensated at $55,000 per year. As a full-time employee, this role is also eligible for:

  • 8 paid holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day)
  • Paid Time Off, which can be used for any purpose and is accrued at a rate of 0.0769 hours of PTO per hour worked (4 weeks per year)
