New Beer Thursday: Medieval England Reference ESB
We first brewed this beer way back in 2018, and it was a throwback even at that point. Delightfully malty while retaining session beer status from the moderate ABV and judicious use of English hop varieties, Medieval England Reference is the sort of beer one can truly make a session out of.
Fans of a now-defunct local brewery that specialized in the ales of the UK may remember this ESB fondly, because we totally just asked Adam for the recipe and he gave it to us. A piece of Northeast MPLS brewing history right here.
Style: ESB
ABV: 5.6%
Hops: East Kent Golding, Fuggles
Malts: Maris Otter, Light Crystal, Dark Crystal, Flaked Barley
Yeast/Fermentation: English ale
Tasting Notes: Malty, caramel, hint of toffee/raisin, herbal/woody hop character, nice bitterness
Available only at the taproom.
