3rd Annual Co-Optoberfest

This last Saturday Fair State Brewing Cooperative held its third annual Co-Optoberfest. An event that serves as both birthday party and meeting of member-owners. So before breaking out the accordions, we got down to business.

The Meeting
The day began with a social hour, allowing members to check in, mingle, and grab a beer. Our president, Evan Sallee, welcomed the crowd with some opening words, and was followed by Davin Haukebo-Bol, who touched on some opportunities for member engagement. We then heard from our candidates for the Board of Directors. All in all, eight people were vying for three spots on the Board.kateweb

After all the votes were tallied, both Julia Gallagher and Elliot Ginsburg held on to their seats, and we welcomed our newest member of the Board of Directors, Kate Ballard! By far, we had the best attendance for a member-owner meeting. Our members also selected our 2017 nonprofit partnerships. In the weeks ahead, we will be announcing our Fair State Cooperates partners.

The Party
At 2pm, the gates swung open welcoming the general public to the festivities. Brats and brews spread across the garden, Shameless Inc never let up from live screen-printing shirts, and Aki was on his toes running pretzels from the bakery. In addition to the season’s staple, Festbier, Niko had his popup beer stand with a selection of one-offs and sneak peeks. Including the Hallertau Blanc Zwickelbier, designed by member-owner Kyle Schmidt.

The accordions fired up, and kept squeezing into the night. There were a few ziggy-zoggies to be heard, and the beer continued to flow. Eventually all the specialty drafts kicked. But no worries, they will return. The day was a good gathering of great people. Thanks to all the vendors, members, and friends for making it such a success!

And if you haven’t joined our FSBC Member-Owners Facebook group yet, request to be added here. It’s a fun way to connect with your fellow Member-Owners & directly with FSBC staff. We are currently planning more exclusive events & volunteer opportunities for you this fall. Stay tuned & in the loop!
